This week do not rush past this.

There is a way you’ve learned to relate to God
without even realizing it.

As if you are always trying to do enough.

To stay close.
To stay right.
To stay in a place where you won’t fall short.

And quietly, over time…
your relationship with Him can begin to feel
more like obligation than connection.

More like effort…
than closeness.

But that is not how He has revealed Himself to you.

His Name is Abba — Father.

Not distant.
Not formal.

Near.
Personal.

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear,
but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,
‘Abba, Father.’”
— Romans 8:15

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God.”
— Romans 8:16

This is not the language of distance.

It is the language of relationship.

Of belonging.

Of being brought near—not by effort…
but by adoption.

This is what we often struggle to receive.

That you are not standing before God
as someone trying to earn your place.

You are standing as someone
who has been brought into it.

You are not just a servant
trying to do what is right.

You are a son.

You are a daughter.

And Abba does not relate to you
from a distance.

He draws you close.

But it is easy to hold that closeness at arm’s length.

To stay in performance.

To stay in effort.

Because intimacy requires something different.

It requires receiving what you did not earn.

So, stop here and breathe for a moment.

Let go of the need to prove yourself.

Let go of the pressure to get everything right.

You are not approaching a distant authority
trying to gain approval.

You are coming to a Father
who has already called you His own.

Reflect

Where have you been relating to God more like a servant than a child?

What would change if you truly believed you are already accepted as His?

Prayer

Abba,

You are my Father.

Not distant.
Not waiting for me to earn my place.

But drawing me near.

Forgive me for the ways I have stayed in performance…
trying to prove myself to You.

For the pressure I have carried
to do enough.

Teach me to receive what You have already given.

To rest in being Your child.

To come to You freely…
not in fear, but in trust.

Remind me
that I belong to You.

And that I am already Yours.

Amen.

If you need a place to draw near to Him as your Father this week…
