This week do not rush past this.
There is a kind of hunger that does not show itself physically.
It shows up in other ways.
Restlessness.
Distraction.
A constant pull toward something…
even when you’re not sure what it is.
And in that place…
it is easy to start reaching for whatever feels like it might satisfy.
More activity.
More input.
More movement.
Something to quiet the feeling.
But no matter how much you take in…
it doesn’t last.
Because the hunger was never meant to be filled by those things.
His Name is the Bread of Life.
Not something that temporarily satisfies…
but the One who sustains.
“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life.
He who comes to Me shall never hunger,
and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’”
— John 6:35
This is not about physical hunger.
It is about the deeper need within you.
The part of you that is searching
for something lasting.
Something steady.
Something that does not fade
the moment you step away from it.
This is what we often miss.
We fill our lives with things that stimulate us…
but do not sustain us.
Things that occupy our attention…
but do not anchor our souls.
And over time, the cycle continues.
Reach.
Take in.
Feel satisfied for a moment…
and then empty again.
But Jesus does not offer you
another temporary solution.
He offers Himself.
Not something you consume once…
but Someone you remain with.
Someone who fills what nothing else can.
So, stop here and breathe for a moment.
What have you been reaching for
to satisfy what you’re feeling?
What has been filling your time
but not truly sustaining you?
You are not meant to live
in a cycle of temporary satisfaction.
You are meant to be sustained.
And that is found in Him.
Reflect
What have you been turning to that only satisfies you temporarily?
What would it look like to remain with Jesus as your source of sustenance?
Prayer
Jesus, Bread of Life,
You are what I have been searching for.
Not something temporary…
but something lasting.
Forgive me for the ways I have filled my life
with things that do not sustain me.
For the patterns of reaching
for what leaves me empty again.
Teach me to come to You.
To remain with You.
To receive what truly satisfies.
Anchor my heart in You…
so I am no longer driven
by what cannot fulfill me.
You are enough.
And I will trust You here.
Amen.
If you need a place to slow down and be sustained in Him this week…
