This week do not rush past this.
There are moments when something within you begins to drift.
Not all at once.
But slowly.
Your attention shifts.
Your focus moves elsewhere.
And without realizing it…
your awareness of God begins to fade.
Not because He has moved…
but because you have.
And in that place…
it can feel like you are the one
who has to find your way back.
That it is up to you
to close the distance.
But that is not how He revealed Himself.
His Name is the Good Shepherd.
Not the One who waits for you to return…
but the One who leads you.
“I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”
— John 10:11
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep,
if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine
in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost
until he finds it?”
— Luke 15:4
This is not passive care.
This is intentional leadership.
The Shepherd does not stand at a distance
hoping the sheep finds its way back.
He remains attentive.
Watchful.
Near.
This is what we often struggle to see.
When we drift…
when our attention shifts…
when our hearts begin to wander…
it can feel like we’ve moved far from God.
But He has not moved from you.
He has not turned away.
He has not stepped back.
The Shepherd never loses sight of the sheep.
Not for a moment.
And when you wander,
He does not need to find you as if you are unknown.
He leads you.
He calls you.
He draws your awareness back
to where He has always been.
This is not a return to a distant place.
It is a return to His presence…
where He has been watching,
guiding,
and waiting with intention.
So breathe here for a moment.
Where has your attention drifted?
Where have you been moving
without awareness of Him?
You are not being left
to find your way back alone.
You are being guided…
not back to a place He abandoned,
but back into the presence
He never left.
Reflect
Where in your life has your awareness of God faded?
What would it look like to become aware of His presence again right now?
Prayer
Jesus, my Good Shepherd,
You have never lost sight of me.
Even in moments where my attention has drifted,
You have remained near.
Forgive me for the ways I have moved
without awareness of You.
For the times I have believed
I needed to find my way back on my own.
Thank You for guiding me…
not back to a place You left,
but into the presence You have always held.
Draw my heart back to You.
Restore my awareness of Your nearness.
And teach me to walk with You again…
not by striving,
but by staying aware.
You are my Shepherd.
And I will follow You here.
Amen.
If you need a place to become aware of Him again this week…
