This week do not rush past this.
There are places in your life that feel empty.
Moments where something shifted…
and never quite felt the same again.
Spaces where you expected God to move…
and it seemed like He didn’t.
And over time, those places begin to carry a quiet question:
Where was He?
Or even deeper…
Is He still here?
But what if the absence you feel
is not the absence of God?
His Name is Yahweh Shammah — The Lord Is There.
Not the God who was there once.
Not the God who will be there someday.
The God who is there.
“And the name of the city from that day shall be:
THE LORD IS THERE.”
— Ezekiel 48:35
This name was not given
in a moment of ease.
It came after loss.
After exile.
After a long stretch of time
where it felt like everything had been broken.
And yet…
God revealed something that did not change.
He was still there.
This is what we struggle to believe.
That God is present
even in the places that feel abandoned.
In the moments that didn’t make sense.
In the prayers that felt unanswered.
In the seasons where silence seemed louder than His voice.
But Yahweh Shammah does not leave
when things become difficult to understand.
He does not withdraw
when your circumstances shift.
He is not absent
just because you cannot feel Him.
He is there.
Not watching from a distance…
but present in the middle of it.
So, stop here and breathe for a moment.
Go back to the place you’ve avoided.
The one that still feels unresolved.
The one that still carries questions.
And instead of assuming He wasn’t there…
ask yourself:
What if He was?
What if He still is?
You are not standing in a place God abandoned.
You are standing in a place
where He has remained.
Reflect
Where in your life have you felt like God was absent?
What would change if you believed He was present there all along?
Prayer
Yahweh Shammah,
You are there…
even in the places I thought were empty.
Forgive me for the ways I have believed
You left when things became difficult.
For the moments I assumed silence
meant absence.
Open my eyes to recognize
where You have been all along.
Meet me again in the places I’ve avoided.
Restore what feels distant within me…
and anchor me in the truth
that You never left.
You are there.
And I will trust You here.
Amen.
If you need a place to meet Him—even in the places that feel empty…
